Pre-Departure Guide for Travel to China

From entry requirements to traveling with family members, here is a comprehensive list of items to confirm before departure. Policies and hospital requirements are subject to change; please refer to official information and your final appointment notice before departure.

01 · ENTRY

Entry Requirements

Policy sources checked on 8 October 2026. Review the official pages again before departure and verify the rules for your passport, purpose of visit and length of stay.

Visa-Free Entry Arrangements for Ordinary Passports

The visa-free agreement between China and Malaysia for ordinary passport holders has entered into force. If the planned duration of stay, purpose of visit to China, or type of travel document does not meet the visa-exemption requirements, you should apply for the appropriate visa in advance.

02 · DOCUMENTS

Medical Records

Keep originals and prepare clear electronic copies. Before submitting medical or identity documents, agree the purpose, recipient, authorization and channel. Do not use the general website form.

Medical Records and Test Reports

Compile the patient's past medical records, recent laboratory results, imaging reports, and important imaging data, and label them in chronological order.

Medication and Allergy Information

List the medications you are currently taking, their dosages, and how to take them, as well as any known drug or food allergies.

Identification and Contact Information

Prepare necessary identity and visit information as requested by the hospital. Confirm the purpose, recipient, authorization and channel before submission. Do not send identity document copies through the general website form.

03 · SCHEDULE

Reservations and Itineraries

Medical appointments may be subject to change due to hospital scheduling and document review, so please allow for flexibility in your itinerary.

Waiting for appointment confirmation

Please exercise caution when purchasing non-refundable and non-changeable airline tickets, hotel reservations, or intercity transportation until the hospital location, date, and time of your appointment have been confirmed.

Set aside time for a break

Allow time for rest upon arrival, before and after medical appointments, and between trips to other cities to avoid an overly packed schedule.

Keep the lines of communication open

Before departure, confirm your usual means of communication, arrival time, and on-site contact person, and keep an eye out for any last-minute changes.

04 · COSTS

Fees and Insurance

Hospitals charge medical fees for the services provided. Coordination, transport, accommodation and other fees are itemized separately in the agreed quote.

Confirm the Cost Range

Distinguish hospital medical fees, Xiaoyu Global Health coordination fees, and accommodation, transport, cultural travel and other third-party charges.

Check on Insurance in Advance

Confirm with the insurance provider whether medical treatment in China is covered, whether pre-authorization is required, and whether direct billing or reimbursement after the fact is required.

Retain the receipt

Keep hospital receipts, itemized bills, prescriptions, test results, and any other documents that may be required by your insurance provider in a safe place.

05 · FAMILY

Accompanied by a family member

Accompanying family members should also complete their own entry and travel preparations independently.

Verify each document separately

Each traveler should check the validity of their passport, visa or visa-waiver requirements, and other entry requirements.

Clarify the Division of Responsibilities Among Escorts

Identify the primary contact person, the person responsible for keeping records, and the on-site liaison in advance to minimize information gaps on the day of the appointment.

Addressing the Needs of Our Peers

If there are elderly guests, children, or guests with limited mobility in your party, please let us know in advance regarding your room type, transportation, dietary, and accessibility needs.
